Possibly, this idea came from allrecipes.com. I won't take the credit for it, but I do recommend it. I'm not generally a fan of oatmeal cookies, but with the additional ingredients, I will eat them with no additional encouragement.
I use any recipe with whole oats that do not soak up water so the result is a crunchy/crispy cookie tasting like granola. I add the zest of one orange, a cup of golden raisins, and a cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips to the batter just before I dish it out onto a cookie sheet. The golden raisins are most important. They tend to be larger and juicier than the raisins I find at Publix. Also, I'm proudest when I add a the zest of a local orange selected from a trusted fruit stand. I know my zest will not have waxes or dyes. This would be an example of the great wisdom in purchasing organic fruits.
