Vegetarianism in Magazines Week-Alicia Silverstone

Bread for Sale

There have been some great articles in magazines that have come through my door this past weekend about health and vegetarianism. I thought it would be fun to share some.

Redbook Magazine interviewed actress Alicia Silverstone about her vegan cookbook. And while I don't advocate a vegan diet because it isn't right for everyone, there are a few wonderful things that she says that apply to any healthy food choice.

"I wrote [the book] to get people excited about what is possible for them--that they could look better, feel better, eat delicious food, and not be deprived." Ah, yes, so many people who argue against vegetarianism talk about the deprivation. But even a celebrity agrees that you can eat really well and not even notice what you're (not) missing.

"Everyone should grow sweet peas in their garden, because you get a beautiful flower, and then suddenly there are peas!" Guess I know what I'll be trying to grow next year. Gardening is making a comeback in many parts of society. Take a look at Planting Party"> what we grow in between our concrete walls. Yes, it can be done!
